Delivery within the UK (Mainland)
All orders are now sent via courier. This means we can track every order from leaving our warehouse all the way to your door. You will also get a text or email with your delivery time slot with the option to re arrange if not convenient. You can also leave any delivery instructions such as “Please leave in porch” in the comments box at the checkout stage. We can then add these when booking your parcel.
This is a next day service and we aim to dispatch all orders within 48 hrs so you should receive your books within 3 working days.
Delivery to Northern Ireland, Isle or Wight and Scottish Highlands
Uk orders outside of the mainland will be sent via Royal Mail if under 2kgs or by Collect Plus if over 2kg. Please allow upto 5 days for delivery. There is no extra charge for these areas.
Delivery outside of the UK
If you are outside of the UK please contact us before ordering. We are happy to ship to most countries at cost.
We charge a flat rate postal fee of £3.75 – this is per order not per book!
Free Shipping on all orders over £50 to anywhere in the UK
One day when we are big as say Amazon or those other Book people 😉 we will be able to offer free delivery on orders much lower! Each day small business grow bigger so watch this space!

Local delivery – If you live or work in the following postcode areas we offer FREE delivery on all orders over £10 this will automatically update at the checkout
GL14, GL15, GL16, GL17, GL18, GL19 and HR8 and HR9.
You are of course welcome to collect from our warehouse in Mitcheldean, GL17 0DD. Please contact us to arrange this as we are often out at schools so we need to make sure someone is there to meet you!

You can also order online and collect from one of our Bookshop in a Box stockists. To collect from one of our stockist please use the coupon code for your chosen store.
Coupons can be added in the ‘View basket’ section- Please note the postage will still show up but will then be removed at the checkout stage. We will email/text you once your order is ready for collecting this is usually within 48 hrs.

We reuse as much packaging as we can including plastic packaging we receive in deliveries from our suppliers. But we no longer purchase bubble wrap and other plastic fillers ourselves. This year we are fazing out jiffy bags too, once they have all been used there will be no more! We expect to use all of these before the end of 2019. These will be replaced with paper and cardboard alternatives which will be 100% recyclable.
We do need to buy in some boxes to fulfil all our orders and these are manufactured by a great local company who are in the same building as us- so personally delivered on foot! We also have the boxes made to our own size so that we don’t have too much excess packaging going to waste.
Small orders sent via DPD currently have to go into one of their branded bags supplied by them (as with all couriers) these are something at the moment we cannot avoid but we have raised our concerns about these and hoping an alternative, more eco friendly option may appear soon.
Single use carrier bags- we no long use single use carrier bags on our open days, at school fairs or out at events. We have paper and cardboard options available but encourage visitors to bring their own reusable bag.
Virtual book fair bags- these are 100% recyclable but are still far from ideal. Paper ones tear and so are not fit for purpose and the biodegradable ones we currently have to buy in such huge quantities to keep them cost effective that they start to decompose before we get through them. We are being sent new samples and in talks with a few new companies who are big on ‘being green’ so we hope to have a new option for these very, very soon!
When ordering online you can choose to pay by BACs or Paypal (Please note that no account is needed to use paypal you can use this option with just a debit or credit card)
If you are ordering for a school or other childcare establishment and require an invoice please email firstname.lastname@example.org and this can be arranged.
If you are local (see postcodes above) and we are delivering to you in person you are also welcome to pay by cash.
If you are unhappy with any of your books you are welcome to return them within 21 days for a full refund.
Books must be returned in original condition- please enclose your order number and name for a swift refund.
If books arrive damaged please contact us within 24hrs. It is really helpful if you can take a photo of any damaged packaging so we can raise this with the relevant courier. I don’t want to jinx anything but we have only ever had one order arrive damaged in the last 5 years, we do make sure all books are very well wrapped and jiffy packed or boxed! This is something we are very proud to say is commented on a lot on reviews on our Facebook page.
